Gregory Mio and Niels Toase Successfully Pass the Advanced Sommelier Examination
The Union de la Sommellerie Luxembourgeoise (UDSL) is proud to celebrate a landmark achievement in the history of Luxembourg sommellerie. On 21 May 2026, Grégory Mio and Niels Toase successfully passed the prestigious Advanced Sommelier Examination of the Court of Master Sommeliers Europe in London.
Widely recognised as one of the most demanding professional wine qualifications in the world, the Advanced Sommelier examination tests candidates across three disciplines: in-depth theoretical knowledge, blind wine tasting at an elite level, and flawless practical wine service under intense examination conditions. Success requires years of dedication, extensive study and significant professional experience.
The examination in London demonstrated its exceptional level of difficulty. Out of 22 candidates, only seven achieved a passing result, making the success of Grégory Mio and Niels Toase all the more remarkable. Their achievement places them among a select group of Advanced Sommeliers in Europe and highlights their commitment to excellence within the hospitality and wine professions.
